"Our vision of having just a superchill environment is really taken from growing up in Colorado," Grillo has said.
Grillo, who is a best known for his time behind the bar at Haven mixing decadant cocktails, is right at home in his new space. Isaac and his wife April have been working towards this goal for years and are excited to see it come to fruition. Surrounded by personal touches inspired by family, friends and memories he smiles and says, "I've always wanted to open my own bar."
Repour's charm runs deep. His family rallied to help build his dream bar from all over the country, trucking in Colorado pine that you'll see holding up the liquor behind the bar. "My friend Ruben cut down a lodge pole pine in Colorado. Right now there is a beetle killing these trees that will eventually wipe them out, but they also leave beautiful markings on the trees." Ruben not only drove the pine from Colorado to Miami, he then hand cut the wood and made the shelves.
And there's more- booze infused jams such as mixed berry with Campari and sweet vermouth, herbs from the bar's very own garden, and interesting spins on chilling your crafted cocktail such as a black tea Beam ice cube or frozen river rocks (from Colorado, of course).
Tucked away at the left corner of the bar is a portrait of Isaac's grandfather. "Without his support, I wouldn't have been able to open this business. He also drank Jim Beam for 80 years, and I have a special homage cocktail in his honor," Isaac explains.
The whole bar feels like a testament to family in every sense of the word. The staff treats you as if you're an old friend, the atmosphere is charged for a fun night, and despite being in the heart of South Beach- Repour has a way about it that supercedes pretense or attitude. As you sink into a couch surrounded by friendly faces, and sip a cold tea cocktail (from his mother's china), you truly feel as if you are home.
